Focus List of Ten

focus list of ten

The new me – same as the old me – just the best me that I can be!

I am challenging myself to focus on the ten things listed below that are important to me and can use a little improvement.

Some I have started already, others will become more of a focus in the coming weeks.

I am happy being me and living my particular life. I am grateful for all that I have…because I have a lot! But that doesn’t mean I don’t need improvement. Everyone needs improvement, because no one is perfect. (I apologize if you are perfect…I do not mean to offend anyone!)

Here is my Focus List of Ten:

#1- Weight Loss (Food): Taking accountability for what I eat and improve my daily diet. I am on Weight Watchers and have committed to tracking every little bite that goes into my mouth!

#2- Weight Loss (Activity): I have committed to moving more every single day.

#3- Organize: Many aspects of my life are organized, but my physical and electronic spaces are disasters in great need of attention. I am working slowly to make necessary improvements (one corner of my life at a time)!

#4- Learning: There are so many things I want to learn…the world is such an interesting place. Right now I am focusing on learning to blog, but there are many other items on the list to learn!

#5- Relationships: Strong friend and family relationships are so important to our happiness, so I want to maintain and grow my current relationship and maybe even create some new ones. I love being part of a community and I am starting to feel part of the blogging community.

#6- Giving Back: I make donations often, but I don’t give enough of my time and energy to improving my world.

#7- Mindfulness: I would like to start to meditate and do yoga.

#8- Fun Stuff: I don’t want to let daily life get in the way of fun stuff. I want to do more fun stuff!!!

#9- Stepping Out of my Comfort Zone: I want to step out of my comfort zone more often. I don’t think that means daily, but maybe weekly.

#10- Decorating: This one freaks me out. I can’t even admit out loud how long we have lived in our home without painting or hanging a picture. I know many of you love this, but for me it is a fear much higher on the list than public speaking!

What are you focusing on improving? Any tips you can provide to help with my improvements are greatly appreciated!

National High Five Day!

national high five day

Today is National High Five Day.  Don’t believe me? Check here and here.

I am giving myself a HUGE high five. I think I deserve one just for starting this blog, but I have also managed to:

– Write / post almost every day since I started nine days ago

– On 4.8.15 I challenged myself to drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day. I am proud to say I have accomplished this every day since then!

– On 4.13.15 I challenged myself to declutter one corner at a time. I accomplished my first corner with progress on a second one!

– On 4.15.15 I challenged myself to keep track of what I am eating. Yesterday was a success and I am off to a good start today!

I have many, many more challenges planned for myself!

In response to the Daily Prompt: Take That, Rosetta!

I wish I could wake up tomorrow and be fluent in Spanish. In NY I am surrounded by Spanish speaking individuals…how great would it be to speak with them in their native language. Then I would take my new skills on the road traveling far and wide. I have travelled to Mexico often and Spain is on the top of my ‘hope to get to soon’ destinations!

One of my future challenges will be to learn basic, conversational Spanish. I was not very successful in high school Spanish (which was a life time ago). I have tried a few apps along the way, but my enthusiasm wears out pretty quickly.

BTW… In 2015, National High Five Day is partnering with Action for Healthy Kids, a charity that fights childhood obesity and promotes fitness. NHFD will be raising money and awareness to help join the fight against childhood obesity. You can join me in donating to the cause here: donate

What have you done to deserve a high five? Who do you know that deserves a high five?

Something New Learned

I plan to edit this as I learn something new:

4.14.15: Participating in things like the Liebster Award is worth the time and effort required. Such a great way to explore other new blogs, build your own following and help support other new bloggers in the process.

4.13.15: I discovered the More Tag to split content.  I think this is great for longer posts.

4.12.15: You can only have a total of 15 tags and categories in WordPress

PSA of the Day…Keep Learning!!!

You Like Me, You Really Like Me

You Like Me, You Really Like Me – Sally Fields

leibster award

This is so exciting. An award! I haven’t won an award in ages!!!

Actually, this was a lot of fun and I have to thank Faceless Fitness for nominating PSA of the Day for the Liebster Award! It was a great reason to spend some time exploring other new blogs.

This did take some time, but I think it was totally worth it! It is a great way for new bloggers to support one another. Continue reading

Weekly Challenge: Improving Something

small steps 4.12.15

I am going to set a new challenge for myself every Monday to improve something in my life.  Some challenges will be easier than others. I am going to try to make each a manageable and achievable task.

Last week I set the challenge of drinking eight 8-ounce glasses of water every day…and I am proud to say that so far I have stuck to it.

Most challenges will probably last more than a week, such as drinking enough water daily.  Others may be quicker hits like cleaning out a closet.

I am going to spend sometime today trying to figure out what my next few challenges will be.  I am going to start by focusing on challenges that will make me healthier, more organized, learn something new, and help improve and/or expand my social relationships.

I am open to suggestions.  Please let me know your thoughts.
