Today’s Improvement: Drink Up! (Water, that is)

Drink up 4.8.15

It is such a great motto – Never Allow Yourself to be Thirsty!  I was reminded of this great tool during a conversation this morning. And then I saw it as part of the article on MSN 10 Healthy Habits You Need to Adopt Now.

In addition to all of the great benefits that staying properly hydrated does for your body it also helps curb your hunger.  Apparently it is common for your body to mistake thirst for hunger.

There seems to be some disagreements of how much water you should be drinking based on factors specific to your body and diet.  And, there seems to also be the question of if just water or all fluids count.  See this interesting post from the Mayo Clinic on this topic.

I think I am just going to stick to the old rule of eight 8-ounce glasses (total 64 ounces).

I remember once having a conversation with my MIL (who I love dearly).  She said she just can’t drink that much water.  She is a sipper, not a guzzler.  My husband laughed and said she didn’t have a problem guzzling her vodka club sodas!

For her, and many others like her, I think part of the issue is they do not like water.  Luckily, this is not my issue…I actually like water.  I always say that the only things I drink are water, coffee, wine and tequila!

I think I am going to try to track my water every day and update my progress in the comments.

Do you drink enough water every day? Do you have tricks to help you drink enough water?  Please share!

I did it again yesterday, but it is hard. While I was running errands I needed to run and find ladies rooms! Often!!!

I am finding each day to be a little easier. One trick I have learned that is working for me is to have 2 glasses early in the day and leave 2 glasses for later in the day.
