No More Couch Potato

Rainbow chase exercise

Each week I am challenging myself to make small improvements.

This week I am vowing to end my couch potato ways and become more active. I am going to start slowly and work my way up.

Through Weight Watchers I had purchased an ActiveLink activity monitor. It is a fancy pedometer, but not as fancy as a FitBit, which I hope to upgrade to soon.

My goal is to be active EVERY day. This week I want to earn one activity point every day.  That does not mean 7 points this week…it means a minimum of one point every, single day. Next week two points per day and so on until I reach four points per day.

I then want to maintain the four points per day through the summer.

For those of you not familiar with Weight Watchers, activity points are earned after a baseline of movement happens, so basically, not being a couch potato.  Then you earn activity points for burning somewhere between 50 – 100 additional calories.  It is hard to translate exactly, but at least it is measurable.

I am going to start with a slow walk daily this week.

What do you do to get yourself moving?

Update on past challenges:

On 4/15/15, I challenged myself to track (food journal) everything I ate. I have tracked every day since…even when I ate the 16 point Nutella Pizza!

On 4/13/15, I challenged myself to declutter one corner at a time. One corner is complete and the second is in progress.  I will report more on this tomorrow.

On 4/8/15, I challenged myself to drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water each day.  I have managed to accomplish this every day since then except for one, which was yesterday (4/19).  I spent most of the day in the car and after the second emergency bathroom pit stop I decided the challenge wasn’t fitting in with my day’s plan. I did still manage to drink five 8-ounce glasses because I didn’t give up the goal completely.

PSA of the Day… A little exercise goes a long way!

What goals have you set for yourself?

Glad to see you’re getting up and getting active. I’m currently on 2 a days workouts. I do an at home workout purchased from Beachbody and I am walking/jogging/running in the evenings. The toddler seems to love it. I became a health and wellness coach after receiving quite a bit of success improving my health and am slowly earning income to pay off debt I’ll tell you, the money has really motived me to stay on my feet and truly help others.

Boyfriend reads a lot and told me about a study that suggest telling yourself you do not engage in the bad habit you want to change helps you change it. So this morning I said, “I do not make excuses to ignore my alarm.” I got up. No more couch potato, day one.

Hi…3 Liters may be a bit much. That is almost double of what I am drinking. My skin has always been good, so I haven’t seen a big difference. I do feel that my appetite has been lessened a bit.
